Dr. Tuesday L. Cooper is the Associate Dean of the School of
Education/Professional Studies and Graduate Division at Eastern Connecticut
State University (Willimantic, CT). Dr. Cooper's primary responsibilities
include facilitating and managing the Graduate Division activities, planning
faculty development activities, and serving as the liaison to the School of
Arts and Sciences and the offices of Continuing Education, Admissions, and the
Registrar.
Before joining Eastern in August 2003, Dr. Cooper served in the capacity of
Assistant Professor and faculty chairperson at the School of Human Services,
Springfield College (Springfield, MA). At Springfield College she was
responsible for supervising the faculty and the coordination of the
undergraduate criminal justice concentration and the graduate Organization
Management and Leadership program.
Dr. Cooper earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of Massachusetts
at Amherst. She also holds a law degree from Western New England College School
of Law (Springfield, MA) and a Bachelors of Science in Political Science from
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick, NJ). In 2001, Dr.
Cooper was awarded a Connecticut Community-Technical Colleges' Board of
Trustees Minority Administrative Fellows position with Asnuntuck Community
College in Enfield, CT. In addition, she has been awarded the American
Association of Higher Education's Nellie Mae Scholarship and the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst Teaching and Learning in the Diverse Classroom
Fellowship.
Dr. Cooper has authored the book the Sista' Network: African American Women
Faculty Successfully Negotiating the Road to Tenure. She has co-authored the
book Diversity on Campus with Drs. David Schuman and Carolyn Pillow. Her
research interests include tenure, faculty and department chair development,
education law, and Critical Race Theory. She is a member of the Professional
and Organizational Development Network and the American Educational Research
Association.
