Dr. Denise Stockley joined the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Queen's
University in January 2001. She is an Educational Developer (Faculty/Adjuncts)
and is also an Associate Professor of Education. Denise has extensive
experience for both classroom- based and online learning. Since 1993, she has
taught, consulted, and provided educational development at the college,
university and corporate level.
Denise completed her Ph.D. in the Psychology of Education at Simon Fraser
University. Her primary research interests are professional development,
graduate supervision, and educational technology. She has published in such
varied journals as the Canadian Journal of Learning Technology, The Journal of
Library & Information Services in Distance Learning, Staff and Educational
Development International and t he Journal of Educational Psychology.
In addition, she has given over 100 workshops and conference presentations
external to her work as an Educational Developer at Queen's University. Within
Queen's, she has consulted widely with individual faculty and departments,
facilitated over 60 workshops and guest lectures, and created the Focus on
Foundations and co-created the Focus of Graduate Supervision Certificate
programs within the Centre for Teaching and Learning.
She is the principal investigator for the Social Sciences and Humanities
Research Council of Canada's International Opportunities Fund focused on Pathways
to the Profession of Faculty Development: An International Perspective.
This project is co-facilitated with Jeanette McDonald and Adam Caron and
includes colleagues from Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, and the United
States.
