Judith Kamber, Dean of Professional Development,
has been at Northern Essex Community College since 1986. In this
role, she has been responsible for the continued development and
implementation of the College's Faculty and Staff Development program
as well as the Teaching and Learning Center. Her particular interests
are communities of practice such as Learning Communities, SoTL and
a homegrown Teaching in Community project. Judith holds a BA from
the University of Miami and an M.Ed. from Salem State College.
Since 1993, Judith has also taught classes at NECC in Communications,
Introduction to the Creative Experience, and a Leadership Course
in the Business Department. Prior to coming to NECC, Judith worked
for fifteen years in human services and as a teacher in New Jersey.
Judith has been active in a wide variety of educational committees
throughout New England. She is currently serving as President and
Board Member of the New England Faculty Development Consortium and
is a former President of Massachusetts Women in Public Higher Education.
She also has had two articles published in Innovation Abstracts
highlighting the work of teaching in community and teaching in community
online at NECC.
