Originally from Montreal,
Peter’s educational career began while working for the Canadian
National Institute for the Blind in the 1980’s. He taught
in a college outreach program for adults who are blind, focusing
on access computer technology and professional development.
After successfully completing certification in adult education,
Peter worked as an educational consultant, delivering workshops
on interpersonal communications, and self-management. He then started
working with other educators to help improve their teaching practices.
Among the many clients Peter worked with during this time was Humber
College, where he developed their first distance education post-diploma
program. The model he developed and the lessons he learned have
been used to offer a broader range of course delivery choices.
Peter joined the University of Guelph in 1998 as a Distance Learning
Specialist in the Office of Open Learning. There he worked with
faculty in the development of over 30 pedagogically effective distance
education courses and programs, including the University of Guelph’s
first distance MBA program. In 2003, Peter joined Teaching Support
Services and currently works as the Manager of Instructional Development,
supporting faculty in further developing their teaching expertise.
