Donna Ellis is the
Associate Director of the Teaching Resources Office at the University
of Waterloo (UW). She works with faculty members and graduate students
to both support and challenge them in developing and reflecting
on their teaching practices, goals, and beliefs. She provides individual
consultations, classroom observations, course evaluation analyses,
and hands-on workshops, and oversees UW’s Certificate in University
Teaching program for graduate students. Donna is a member of POD’s
Core Committee (2005-2008), serving as Chair of the Finance &
Audit Committee and sitting on the Executive Committee. She also
co-chaired the 2004 POD annual conference held in Montréal,
Québec.
Donna completed her B.A. and M.A. at UW in Rhetoric and Professional
Writing, then completed a Certificate in Adult & Continuing
Education from the University of Manitoba. She is currently pursuing
part-time graduate studies in Management Sciences at UW. Her current
research interests include reflective teaching, transformative learning,
and culture change within higher education. She was a co-investigator
on a 4-year SSHRC grant entitled, Identifying Success Indicators
for the Future Professoriate: An Assessment of Canadian Certification
in University Teaching Program Outcomes.
When not at work or school, Donna spends time with her husband,
their three young sons, and their yellow lab puppy.
